What is QC 3.0?

What is QC?

QC 3.0 is short for Quick Charge 3.0 and is a charging protocol and standard developed by Qualcomm. QC 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 are a series of the progressive development of various charging speed improvements throughout the years and 3.0 specifically was introduced back in 2015.

How does QC 3.0 work?

An algorithm, developed by Qualcomm, called Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV), allows smart devices to intelligently request the power required at the moment, which means the communication between chargers and devices enables variable charging power for optimal charging efficiency.

A wide range of voltage settings is accepted by QC 3.0 devices, it offers a range of voltage with 200mV intervals, varying from 3.6V to 20V, smart devices can request voltage setting dynamically based on the type of device they are.

QC in one sentence

An algorithm allows variable power and voltage settings for the ideal charging efficiency based on the type of device.
